Interaction Design 04/06/17

Summary
For our second sprint we were given the scenario of working with biologist in encouraging citizens to participate in collecting data about animals. The first step we did as a class was to figure out who was our target goal, which group of people was our app trying to appeal to and be able to entice them to help with collecting data. The second step was to think of an animal, while keeping in mind the group of people you are targeting and also thinking of the enviroment your intended audience will be collecting their data. The animal that I choose was a raccoon and my app was geared towards homeowners specifically in South Seattle who deal with raccons either in the area or in their homes. The app would allow them to report the location of the raccoons, give them information on the raccoons and what happens after they have reported it to animal patrol.

Reflection
Coming up with the concept behind my app was easy for me especially with how the TA set up the class to get ideas flowing(her giving examples to start off the class and working with sticky notes). The difficult part was the actual design aspect as I got furthermore into developing my app I ran into multiple questions of how in depth I wanted my interactive design to be or if it was a necessary feature on the app. If given more time I would’ve thought about every detail more in depth and would’ve given me the opportunity to create an even better application.
Future Application
This project was a glimpse of what an interactive designer would go through. You would be given a client who has a list of needs and from there on it is up to you to create an app that best fits the needs of what the client is looking for and creating the best app in the market. Just like the steps we had to take, where we first listed out the different tasks and how we are going to execute it and then begin mapping out what every screen will appear like, that is what real designers have to do. Unlike us designers do not do every aspect of the project themselves, there is a team to rely on who specializes in this different parts of the project who will help you execute it!
