Superhot<\/em> has spent a long time in the spotlight, and its well deserved. The game has a premise unlike any other first person shooter in recent memory, and a VR edition has made it even more enticing. For now, I\u2019ll be focusing on the recent Playstation 4 version, and whether its as competent as its PC counterpart, and of course worth your\u00a0time.<\/p>\n

Gameplay:<\/h4>\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n

The center piece of Superhot<\/em> is of course the shooting, but I do want to focus on the game\u2019s other gameplay counterparts including puzzles, mini-games, and general mindf*cks. In most shooters, splitting up the gameplay like this could feel really unwarranted, but Superhot<\/em> matches it with the story on top of making it fun (more on the latter\u00a0later).<\/p>\n

Of course, time only moves when you do in Superhot<\/em>, but this isn\u2019t just a simple gimmick padded by nothing. The game has no reloading so you\u2019ll be swiping around picking up gun after gun, which leads to a lot of satisfying bullet dodges. Even during deaths I was happy to jump right back in, because the gameplay supports the playground-style level design so\u00a0much.<\/p>\n

Story &\u00a0Design:<\/h4>\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n

Superhot<\/em>\u2019s story has been extended from when it was first released in a small form, and if you\u2019ve happened to follow it since then, you\u2019ll be impressed by the changes made. One big distinction is that the scope is much wider, giving some context to the enemies you\u2019re killing. Again, there\u2019s a reason I said some, because the game\u2019s narrative lines are so purposely blurring.<\/p>\n

Superhot <\/em>also has some melee weapons to flesh out its combat, but I really just preferred to go guns blazing. This is because I felt the former was much harder, as if the game was designed around shooting. While this would make sense, its a bit off considering you can choose to play the campaign again with a non-gun focused\u00a0arsenal.<\/p>\n

Presentation\/Visuals &\u00a0Audio:<\/h4>\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n

Superhot<\/em> also ends up being a visually pleasing game, even though its variety colors are few and far between. This is mostly due to the particle effects, which are present in more places than one would think. Because of everything surrounding the game, this doesn\u2019t really get old, and makes a close encounter much more satisfying.<\/p>\n

Superhot<\/em> has competence in the audio department too, but that only really goes for sound effects. Music is absent, but I\u2019m not necessarily going to praise the game for letting me find my own soundtrack that worked best. With all of the challenge modes and so forth, this is also a little bit of a surprise.<\/p>\n

Conclusion:<\/h4>\n

Superhot<\/em> translates to the Playstation 4 very well, although its not a perfect game due to some inconsistencies. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun with it, and I\u2019m sure you could too, due to how well it expands one mechanic into a whole playing field of smart shooting.<\/p>\n

Superhot<\/em> gets a 8\/10 (Very\u00a0Good)<\/p>\n
