Over the years, there has been a variety<\/a> of third-party controllers<\/a> for the PlayStation 4, but until now, all of them have been kept tethered to the console. The latest officially licensed controller \u2014 the Hori Onyx Wireless Controller<\/a> \u2014 changes that, however: it\u2019s the first third-party wireless gamepad with Sony\u2019s stamp of approval. <\/p>\n

Layout-wise, the Onyx seems to be taking design cues from Microsoft\u2019s Xbox One controllers, rather than Sony\u2019s DualShock 4, borrowing both the asymmetrical stick layout, D-pad, and overall shape of Microsoft\u2019s controllers. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately, like the Xbox One controllers, there doesn\u2019t seem to be a speaker (which the DualShock 4 has). There\u2019s also no lightbar on the back,…<\/p>\n
