All students and teachers are also be eligible to enter a giant, public FANschool league to learn alongside classrooms across the country and compete for additional scholarship $$$!!!<\/p>\n

The Olympic Challenge is similar to the Election Challenge<\/a> we ran last school year?\u2014?Here\u2019s how that turned\u00a0out<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Our \u201cChallenge\u201d games are a little different from our \u201cFANgames\u201d.<\/p>\n

While FANgames are more like fantasy sports leagues for countries or states, Challenge games are more like prediction contests for events?\u2014?Picture a March Madness-like game where players research and fill out a world map in a series of rounds, but with a map instead of a\u00a0bracket.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how each round will\u00a0work:<\/h3>\n

ROUND 1<\/strong> will get you researching and predicting which Winter Olympics countries will be in the news\u00a0most.<\/h4>\n

You\u2019ll click to select 5 countries that you anticipate will make the most news during the Olympic Games, receiving 1 point for each mention of that country in the New York\u00a0Times.<\/p>\n

You cannot select South Korea or the United States here since host South Korea will get too many mentions and we use U.S. news to score (+ we want you to learn more about the rest of the world\u00a0:).<\/p>\n

Should I have North Korea on my\u00a0list<\/a>?!<\/p>\n

ROUND 2 will get us all researching and predicting which Winter Olympics countries will win the most\u00a0medals.<\/h4>\n

In this round, you will choose 10 countries that you think will win the most\u00a0medals.<\/p>\n

And you\u2019ll receive 30 points for each gold<\/em> medal, 20 points for a silver<\/em> medal, and 10 points for a bronze<\/em>\u00a0medal.<\/p>\n

Did you know that there are only 3 countries in the world that have won more medals in the Winter Games than they have in the Summer\u00a0Games?<\/p>\n

The final ROUND 3 will have you rank your Round 2 picks from 1\u201310 in terms of TOTAL medals\u00a0won.<\/h4>\n

You will receive 10 extra points for having your top 10 countries in the correct order, from highest to lowest. This will be a game-changer!<\/p>\n

Will Norway, who has more gold than any other country, finish with the most medals\u00a0overall?<\/p>\n

Who hosted the last Winter Olympics in 2014 and which country won the most medals\u00a0there?<\/p>\n

Oh, wait: Are they even in the Olympics<\/a> this\u00a0year?!<\/p>\n
