This month, <a href=\"http:\/\/generic-viagra-online.net\" style=\"text-decoration:none;color:#676c6c\">and<\/a>  I&#8217;ve put my <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/design-tools\/pencils-designers-2131969\">best pencils<\/a> away to focus on some of the top tools for creating digital art and illustrations.<\/p>\n<h3>01. Adobe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/uk\/products\/illustrator.html\" target=\"_blank\">Illustrator<\/a>\/<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/uk\/products\/photoshop.html\" target=\"_blank\">Photoshop<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/E3RYutUs6MQomM2idbd5BX.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are, without a doubt, the flagship products when it comes to digital illustration<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Windows\/Mac<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $19.99 per month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It wouldn&#8217;t be right to cover the best digital tools without starting with the de facto standards: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Without a doubt, these two are the flagship products when it comes to digital illustration. However, I strongly encourage you to give the others on this list a try.<\/p>\n<h3>02. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clipstudio.net\/en\">Clip Studio Paint<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/wDKop8zweJGy8STaCvsnz9.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>If you&#8217;re looking for a comprehensive digital studio at an affordable price, this is it<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Windows\/Mac<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $47.99<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clip Studio Paint is my absolute favourite. If you&#8217;re looking for a comprehensive digital studio at an affordable price, this is it. It has all the tools you&#8217;ll need as a digital artist, including the ability to combine vector graphics with rasterised images.<\/p>\n<h3>03. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sketchbook.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Autodesk SketchBook<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/JwhwHQmhGGb99D4ZBVxqbK.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>SketchBook offers a variety of advanced tools for digital artists<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Windows\/Mac\/iOS\/Android<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $29.99 per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Another contender for creating digital illustrations is SketchBook. What I like about SketchBook is its advanced tools, like perspective guides and dynamic gradient fills. Plus, not only does it offer a desktop app, but there&#8217;s also a powerful mobile app too.<\/p>\n<h3>04. <a href=\"https:\/\/affinity.serif.com\/en-us\/designer\/\" target=\"_blank\">Affinity Designer<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/3fTDrMW4kEXk9NpzxiqWpb.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>New kid on the block, Affinity Designer is quickly becoming the go-to tool for many digital artists<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Windows\/Mac<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $49.99<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A relatively new option is Affinity Designer. Although I haven&#8217;t been using Affinity Designer for too long, it&#8217;s quickly becoming my go-to app for vector graphics. Why do I like it so much? Because of its seemingly endless export options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativebloq.com\/tutorial\/painting-drawing-tips-81516120\" target=\"_blank\">How to draw and paint: 95 pro tips and tutorials<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As an extra bonus, there&#8217;s even an <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2meK3pa\">Affinity Designer Workbook<\/a> that contains over 400 full colour pages of instructions, guides and insider tips. I personally have a copy of this book, and I absolutely love it.<\/p>\n<h3>05. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/animate.html\" target=\"_blank\">Adobe Animate CC<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/m7qtPeF4VQkVpwzkpaXE2G.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>You might be surprised to learn that Adobe Animate is a good alternative to Illustrator<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Windows\/Mac<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $19.99 per month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an option that might surprise you: Adobe Animate CC. That&#8217;s right \u2013 I&#8217;m recommending animation software for design. To be honest, I prefer Animate CC over Illustrator. If you&#8217;re interested in learning the basics of drawing in Animate, check out my recent <a href=\"http:\/\/dayoftheindie.com\/art-illustration\/digital\/tutorial-cyo-game-assets-adobe-animate\/\" target=\"_blank\">video tutorial<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/dayoftheindie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Day Of The Indie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>06. <a href=\"https:\/\/inkscape.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Inkscape<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/P2qe3X83Vj2uVEPW7MJ8R3.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>Free to use, Inkscape features many of the same tools you&#8217;d expect from a graphics app<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Windows\/Mac\/Linux<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: Free<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I consider Inkscape the de facto free and open source standard for creating vector graphics. It has many of the same tools you&#8217;d expect for a graphics app, but it doesn&#8217;t run you broke. The best part about Inscape is that it&#8217;s community-driven, and the individuals working on it are very dedicated. If you&#8217;re interested in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/inkscape.org\/en\/contribute\/\">contributing to the project<\/a>, there are plenty of opportunities to do so.<\/p>\n<h3>07. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sketchapp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sketch<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/tPmuU94UvAZVS44X4e5jrG.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>If you&#8217;re doing a lot of UX, mobile or web design, Sketch is definitely worth a look<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Mac<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $99<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sketch has a devoted fan base. While I don&#8217;t personally do a lot of work in Sketch, I&#8217;ve used it before with various clients. The biggest pro with Sketch is that its main focus is on design. So, if you&#8217;re doing a lot of UX, mobile or web design, this is definitely worth the look.<\/p>\n<h3>08. <a href=\"http:\/\/astropad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AstroPad<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/oE5moYF6eayHHMcLSWMZ66.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>AstroPad allows you turn your iPad into a graphics tablet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Platform<\/strong>: Mac\/iOS<\/li>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $29.99<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With AstroPad, you can turn your iPad into a graphics tablet. It does this by allowing your iPad to act as an external monitor for your Mac. What&#8217;s different about this app \u2013 as opposed to something like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.duetdisplay.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Duet<\/a> \u2013 is that AstroPad is designed with the sole purpose of graphics work in mind.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a great video by Brad Colbow where he talks about the differences between these two apps. If you get a chance, check it out:\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>09. iPad Pro<\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/EoaAoq3LPP7FDaA4g8z2KM.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>The iPad Pro, plus the Apple Pencil, is a great option for digital artists<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The iPad Pro, plus the Apple Pencil, is a great option for digital artists. You can either use it with one of the many mobile graphics apps available for it; or you can use it with something like AstroPad \u2013 which, as mentioned above, allows you to use it with your Mac desktop apps.<\/p>\n<h3>10. <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2kEuIBO\" target=\"_blank\">Wacom MobileStudio Pro<\/a><\/h3>\n<figure>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" name=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.taterboy.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/66oELEx9KDax3tSunJuyWV.png?w=900\" align=\"middle\" fullscreen=\"\"><\/p><figcaption>The Wacom MobileStudio Pro doesn&#8217;t come cheap but is well worth your pennies<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Price<\/strong>: $1996.94<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Wacom MobileStudio Pro \u2013 although a bit pricey \u2013 is something to seriously consider. Having the full power of a computer in your hands is a great option for the mobile illustrator. If you spend any significant time away from your drawing space, you may just want to save your pennies for this one.
