In studio, we learned the importance of ideation through the task of drawing design ideas that pertain to a specific subject within a finite time limit. Although this process can be difficult if continued for extensive periods of time, I believed the class got a brief taste of how ideation comes with many obstacles. Contrary to prior beliefs I learned that it is actually easier to come up with more designs when given specific guidelines for a product. The mind of a designer is already moving in numerous directions during ideation, so when a subject or guidelines are given, the ideas have something to gravitate towards, making the process considerably easier.

While in the studio, I realized how much effort is needed for productive ideation mannerisms. The constant flow of ideas is difficult to sustain, but through practice, I can see this task becoming increasingly easy to master. Overcoming, metal blocks is an important trait that comes hand and hand with experience. Sketching is a skill that is quickly becoming less common among designers in all fields. Through the repetitive contact of a pen to paper, ideas are evolved, expanded, erased, and born. Falling obsolete to digital design programs, ideation through pen and paper is a fundamental part of the design process that should be done not matter the extent of the project.

I, without a doubt, will be taking the process of ideation much more seriously in all projects I do. Learning how to quickly get my ideas down on paper will only become easier as I practice my drawing skill while brainstorming. I also have also realized that drawing with pen and paper can bring out unique design aspects I would never think of. In several instances while drawing, a rouge yet brilliant line totally altered the intended design I was going for, however, that line allowed me to further my design in the process. In order to continue this skill, I will give myself time limits while drawing, which I hopefully increase my ideation output.

Further refinement of my personal transportation device, which includes a skinnier and lighter motor/wheel and batteries in each attachment. This is not the final design, the process of ideation continues.
