There is a park near my house that is also a cemetery. I have spent some time creating a digital version.
Abney Park is one of seven privately owned cemeteries (dubbed the Magnificent Seven) established in the 19th century to deal with overcrowding of smaller parish graveyards in London. Uniquely in London, Abney was also originally laid out as an arboretum, with 2,500 varieties of plants.
Today Abney park is a Local Nature Reserve and generally pleasant and tranquil place to spend time.

I wanted to try to create my own version of Abney Park. A 3D space that could be explored digitally. Reproduce only the most important parts, the parts that evoke what Abney Park means to me.
I’m using a painterly/ illustrative style for the textures. I like the idea of trying to recreate a personal experience in a way someone else can virtually experience.
This is something That I want to explore further.
