Writing Modes And CSS Layout

Writing Modes And CSS Layout Writing Modes And CSS Layout Rachel Andrew 2019-08-06T14:00:00+02:002019-08-07T10:36:12+00:00 In this article I am going to take a look at the CSS writing-mode property. However this is not an article about the practical or creative application of this property. Instead, I want to demonstrate why understanding writing modes is so important, even to those of us who rarely need to change the writing mode of a page or component. Indie developer flooded with racist, misogynist abuse after announcing Epic partnership

The two developers of an indie game called Ooblets have been subjected to “tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands” of abusive messages following their decision to put their game on the Epic Games Store. It’s a worrying yet entirely unsurprising example of the toxic elements of the gaming community and their strangely unlimited hatred for Epic. Ooblets is a game by a husband and wife team that looks like a sort of farming/dancing/collecting simulator with a fun, cute style. They’ve been developing it for a couple of years now with the help of Patreon supporters, and are getting closer to release. In the process of lining up where and how to sell the game, the two entered into a contract with the Epic Games Store, which in exchange for near-term exclusivity would guarantee the developers the income they might have gotten if they’d decided to launch on multiple Read the full article…

Ninja hits 1 million subscribers on Mixer five days after leaving Twitch

After just five days of streaming, Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is boasting 1 million active subscribers on Mixer, the Microsoft-owned platform that made him jump ship from Twitch. “Thank you for all the incredible support,” Blevins tweeted when announcing the milestone. “I haven’t felt this good in a long time.” Whether Blevins’ fans would follow him from Twitch to Mixer, a much smaller platform compared to Amazon’s streaming behemoth, has been a question on the minds of everyone in the streaming community this past week. One million subscribers over five days is an impressive feat regardless of platform, and it’s a strong testament to Blevins’ popularity and the strength of his personal brand regardless of platform. Yet it’s unclear how many… Read the full article…

Rocket League is ditching loot boxes

Rocket League will remove its paid, randomized loot crates in favor of a system that will tell players what they’re purchasing before they buy. Developer Psyonix announced the news today and described it as a similar change to that made in Epic’s Fortnite. “We are dedicated to creating the best possible experience for our players all over the world,” the developer said. Information on when the change will take place is still to come. Players will still be able to buy Rocket Pass Premium, DLC Cars, and e-sports shop items directly when the new system kicks into effect. Epic acquired Psyonix in May; it dropped blind-draw loot boxes for Fortnite in January of this year. The company has since been sued by the parent of an underage… Read the full article…
