5 Web Design Trends We’re Already Over

Design trends have to be used cautiously. Just as quickly as many trends come into fashion; they can fall out of favor and make a design feel dated. Don’t ignore them completely — testing out trends can stretch your creative muscles and help you create something you might not have tried otherwise. But do be aware of what’s fresh, what’s timeless, and what’s out of date! Here are five design trends that are over (or should be anyway). 1. “Vintage” Everything For a while, it seemed like every design trend started with “vintage.” Vintage typography. Vintage color. Vintage textures. Enough already! The problem with the vintage styles is that the elaborate look is just too much. Characteristics of vintage elements include: Rough overlays on images and type. Scripts and typefaces with plenty of flourishes, swashes and tails. Muted color palettes. Overlays to add sepia or old-style coloring to images Highly textured Read the full article…

Welcome To The Next Level Of Mobile App Development

(This is a sponsored article.) As users spend 89% of their mobile time inside apps — and 56% of all traffic is now mobile — creating a mobile app has become a top priority for many businesses. Statistics show that the average American spends more than two hours a day on their mobile device. Having a mobile app can be beneficial for your company for a number of reasons. But we all know that building an app from scratch is difficult — the gap between a concept and solution is wide and requires a lot of time, effort and money. Read the full article…

Debugging CSS Grid Layouts With Firefox Grid Inspector

You may have heard quite a bit of talk about a CSS feature called “Grid” this year. If you are someone who cringes when you hear the words “CSS” and “grid” in the same sentence, then I highly suggest you check out this new CSS module called CSS Grid. Browsers render HTML elements as boxes according to the CSS box model, and CSS Grid is a new layout model that provides authors the ability to control the size and position of these boxes and their contents. Capcom announces Mega Man 11 with new hand-drawn art style

The first Mega Man came out 30 years ago on the NES on December 17th, 1987, and Capcom is celebrating that legacy with a gift for series fans. Mega Man 11 is set to release sometime in late 2018 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Mega Man 11 is the first new game in the main Mega Man series since the release of Mega Man 10 back in 2010. But unlike the other modern Mega Man sequels like Mega Man 9 and 10, Mega Man 11 is jumping forward with a new, “hand-drawn” 2.5D art direction instead of the traditional, retro 8-bit aesthetic of previous titles. Capcom has released a trailer showing off some of the gameplay and boss fights that make up the bread and butter of any Mega Man game, and we’ll… Read the full article…

Games on TVs? Really? Part I

Early Years Like many things, great and bad, in our lives, it all started in my childhood. I was really a big fun of Commodore 64 games and later MS-DOS pixel art adventures and dungeons, so I played games since late 80s until mid 90s every day and every minute I could. Below are some fantastic titles I have spent thousands of hours… Despite many tries I have never released any game to the market. Most of the time I have developed them as a hobbyist on C++ Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms, which are both dead now. Luckily I still found some screenshots of never released game title “Thromdeil”, so this is its first public presentation: Time passed and for almost 15 years I have worked as a C++ developer until I become suddenly company CTO. Over the whole period I was working on various mobile platforms to finally land on Read the full article…
